Pictures at an Exhibition

Let’s talk about what we’re doing here. It’s absurd; we’re far away from our loving families, we work on our house 12+ hours per day, I haven’t shaved my legs in…I don’t even know how long, we’re exhausted. We don’t take time off. We have various specks of paint and putty and caulking embedded in our hair. Our house is in a state of…be-dusted disrepute.
Would someone please remind why we are doing this?
Such is life, I think I’ll have to remind myself.
Here goes…
Hey look! Here’s our little house as it looks from our road!
And, Cameron, remember calling to each other from half-way across one of our giant fields!
Speaking of fields, here’s the combine that came with the house!
Here’s a found plow spring harrow or seeder thingamajiggy in our long grass!
And what about the apple blossoms–everywhere!
And, yes, those are our sheets drying on the line!
And remember when I picked up a baby starling with my own hands, because it jumped out of its nest? Here’s the box that Cameron built for the birds!
And, oh! Here’s the love of my life blowing me away with his endless skill, confidence, and can-do attitude!
So yes, I can be convinced that this is all worth-while.
In fact, I know it is.

it’s nice to see the blue sky and the not-so-white-with-snow surroundings!

I love reading your Blog Laura-Jane!! You’re so animated and detailed.. Makes me feel like I’ve been there and have dreamed about a place like that.. wonderful!
WOW.. your own combine.. does it work?
We got eaten alive by Mozzies and Black Flies when we went to see our new property.. I didn’t care because I wanted it so bad !! But I bet I’ll be all kitted up like you in netting and heavy bug spray lol..
Looking great!!

It is soo worth it. Just think of the pride you will feel when you are actually able to live in yourl house. I know I wouldn’t be able to do what you are doing, just don’t have the know how. It took me 2 months just to patch some drywall and get it looking right to repair some damage. My sister and her husband built a large home on their own. (had to sub contract some of the work) Talk about instant equity. They both had full time jobs and it took 9 months from start to when they were able to live in it. Both lost at least 20 pounds and were almost dead from exhaustion by the time they finished.
Just keep dreaming of being in your cozy home by winter!

That’s why no one tells you the hardship of motherhood – it does come with awesome times, but some times we just want to give up.
DON’T GIVE UP! Good things will come of this. ;-)
