1. I love living in the country because I can climb trees without feeling weird–even though I am nearing my thirties.
2. I love living in the country because it makes me appreciate being able to drive out of my driveway. (Today, we’re snowed in. But we didn’t have to go anywhere anyway.)
3. I love living in the country because it makes me eat more healthfully. When you can’t really get pizza delivered, you eat frozen pizza. And when you run out of frozen pizza you dig around for some vegetables either in the fridge (winter) or in the garden (summer).
4. I love living in the country because if I want to dance and sing at the top of my lungs in my house, I can. And no one’s going to hear me and tell me that I’ve got the words all wrong or that I’ll never be on Broadway.
5. I love living in the country because of birds and frogs and squirrels.
6. I love living in the country because in the country you can really test your love. If your spouse still loves you when you look really country, then you know your relationship will last.
7. I love living in the country because I can invite friends and family to camp out in our yard. And people actually come because we live in the country!
8. I love living in the country because I can look outside and my eyes can see far, far, far away.
9. I love living in the country because of trees. Look at them!
10. I love living in the country because I can live there with the person I love. The country just wouldn’t be the same without him.

well said!! i like running from the house to the garage in my underwear, knowing no-one will see (and i dont even really live in the “country”).
and about camping in people’s yards, we do that sooo much!!!! at least 4 times per summer. great fun.

I am thinking that for every one of your ten reasons why you love living in the country I think I can find ten more.
Living anywhere on P.E.I. is living in the country to my way of thinking. Just walking on the Confederation Trail can bring you face to face with a red fox for instance.
Climbing trees is awesome but so is walking waist deep in a field of wild flowers and watching the bees buzzing from flower to flower.
Watching the sun set from the little island in the Brudenell River is such a peaceful experience.
A beautiful warm summer day in a kayak on the Brudenell River is also awesome.
Reading a book by a babbling brook on a warm sunny day in June under the shade of a big oak tree with the breeze gently wafting through the leaves.
June is also a great time to be outdoors just to notice and listen to all of the various birds that migrate through our island home at that time.
July is the time to soak in the sun on one of the beautiful beaches that surround our Island.
Don’t forget wild berry picking, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries just to get you started.
With the berries come the socials. Vanilla ice cream and strawberries or blueberry pie and ice cream just to name two.
Bar clam digging, quahog picking and island mussels along with Malpeque oysters and lobsters fresh from the fishing boat are all favorite outdoor island
activities.
Then a big bonfire on the beach and steaming these seafood favorites over the coals. A feast and a sing song as the sun sets and darkness falls.
Being in a potato field harvesting potatoes in October. Chasing fireflies with a mason jar on the front lawn in August.
The smell of new mown hay in June and July. The sight of ripened grain, canola and wheat fields in September.
The color of potato blossoms in late July and Lupines in late June.
Cross country skiing on a clear still night in January followed by a ski trail bonfire and steaming hot chocolate.
Ice pond skating on a late December night with a big bonfire on the ice.
A corn boil in November with the traditional bonfire and singsong.
Seems like we islanders do like our food, bonfires and singsongs.
But truth be known there is a favorite outdoor activity for pretty well any time of the year here on Prince Edward Island.
